Current Cambodian Flag:
This is the current national Flag of the Kingdom of Cambodia. The flag consists of three horizontal stripes; the two equal size blue and the larger red with Angkor in the middle. The flag was adopted by former King Sihanouk in October of 1948 and had been the national flag until October of 1970. After several changing regimes. This original design was readopted in 1993 with the reestablishment of the monarchy. The only minor change made from the original is the change of the outline color from red to black. However, interesting enough I have noticed that some websites including the ones of the government of the kingdom still use the original one with Angkor's red outline.
The Meaning of Cambodian Flag
The blue color of the two top and bottom horizontal stripes symbolizes the kingdom's royalty. The red color of the larger center stripe represents the kingdom's religion from Brahmanism to today's Buddhism. Angkor represents glorious period of the empire.
Another website source states:
According to Ancient and Heraldic traditions much symbolism is associated with colors. The colors on the Cambodia flag represent the following:
* Red - hardiness, bravery, strength & valour.
* Blue - vigilance, truth and loyalty, perseverance & justice.
